Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As you have probably heard, we were very lucky to be chosen as one of the organisations to take part in a National experiment to grow seeds which have been to the International Space Station, and to have been kept in zero gravity for a period of time. This is a highly controlled experiment to see if there are any differences between a hundred seeds which have been to space, and a hundred seeds which haven't. Very well travelled seeds!
The children have been making predictions about what they think will happen, and the seeds have been planted. The final measurement takes place in half term but we will arrange for children to come and take part if they want to. More details will follow on that.
This is a great opportunity for us as a school to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity. It has created a great deal of excitement amongst the children. We definitely have more potential scientists than ever before.
As our Year 6 parents will be aware, we had a practise run with the SATs last week. This went pretty smoothly and highlighted a few areas we needed to improve with our organisation and administration. With everything set and ready to go we would ask Year 6 parents to make sure children are at school promptly for the week of the 9th May.
We want children to remain calm and be prepared. A good night's sleep, and maybe a few less after school activities that week, may be appropriate for your child. The SATs take a lot of effort and concentration so children may be tired and a bit grumpy by the end of the week!
We wish Year 6 every success with their SATs.
IT WAS A TOUGH MATCH AND THE GIRLS TRIED AS HARD AS THEY COULD.
It was really snowing as we warmed up but luckily it stopped just before the match began. Holmer Green won the toss and they chose to start with the ball. They ran up the wing past two of our players but Kianah made a super tackle and Eva collected the ball just before it went out. Eva passed to Ellie and they were both running up the wing, we nearly scored but they had a strong defense and didn’t let anything through. Holmer Green got hold of the ball, Lucia tried to tackle but they tripped her over and she was off for the rest of the match (she had a good run). Holmer Green ran up the pitch and scored. The whistle blew, it was half time. The goalie Heather swapped with Amelie for the second half. We started the second half the ball. Heather and Ellie were on a super run, passing the ball between them, they were so close to scoring a goal but Holmer Green's goalie was excellent. Another goal was scored by Holmer Green. Finally, the whistle blew and the match was over.

The Gateway team arrived at our school ready for the game and we all got into our positions. We decided who kicked off by choosing a bit of grass in the referee's hand, Prestwood won so we decided to kick off. Everyone played really well. We are definitely all getting much better and we were all trying hard to score the first goal. However, Gateway had too much power and kept getting the ball off us and scored three goals in the first half. A few minutes after their third goal, Eva scored a brilliant goal so we all cheered as we were back in the game.
It came to half time and the score was 4-1 to Gateway as they scored another goal.
We all got back on the pitch for the second half and we managed to score another goal again scored by Eva. Gateway went on to score another two goals and by the end of the match it was 6-2 to Gateway who deserved their victory.
