Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Monday 16th October, our team travelled to Great Missenden for an Away league fixture.
The conditions were difficult, the pitch had long grass and it was very windy.
George T conducted the warm-up and Mrs Eales instructed the players on positions.
After Kick off, Missenden scored two early goals and then Prestwood team scored minutes after by Lucas and it was GAME ON!
After some good passing play by Owen, Isaac and Kenzie we unfortunately conceded 2 goals just before half time.
At the break, Mrs Eales made some changes and straight after half time our debut goal keeper, Aadam was in action SAVING A PENALTY!
The defenders were certainly busy but we did make a fast break down the wing with a great through ball from Owen to Harry T who scored our second goal!
We had several other chances but sadly no more goals today!
Thank you to Mrs Eales for escorting us to the match and to George for organising our warm-up and assisting with coaching on the side-line.
A group of Y5 children attended a Pupil Conference this week entitled 'To Infinity and Beyond' with the aim of working out how to be the best they can be; whether you need to be successful to be happy, or whether being happy will make you successful.
The conference led to lots of exciting discussion and the children will be sharing some of their ideas with the rest of the school very soon.
PJS vs Woodside (Home)
We all came to the field to play our first long-awaited home match against Woodside. Our great captain, Isaac, and Mrs Eales told us our tactics and when to make the right move. We all ran on to the pitch full of energy and ready to start the game.
The whistle blew and we were off. A quick break from Woodside but that was easily managed. A goal kick from our keeper, Jack, restarted the game. Then it went slightly downhill for us as we let in an early goal but there was still hope. We made a break for it from the centre kick and a cross flew into the box for Lukas, he only just missed the top-bins (top corner). A lucky cross from Woodside made it 0 - 2 but that didn't damper our team spirits.
We were a quarter of the way through the match, with a few more chances for both sides and Woodside had managed to slip another goal past us. Our goal chances were all so close but the Woodside keeper was determined to keep a clean sheet. As half-time approached both coaches were thinking about the sub bench. Mere minutes before half-time, Woodside had gained another corner and their attackers broke free of our defence which left Jack with no protection and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
The second half saw Will come off the bench and Kenzie moved into attack - we were ready to play. Woodside started but didn't get far and we were soon on the ball with an early attempt on goal. Isaac, now in goal, made some excellent saves (as had Jack) and only one Woodside shot found the back of the net in the second half. This left the final as score 0 - 5.
We came home not disheartened and ready to play our first league match next week.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
