On Thursday 30th January, everyone was very excited to welcome Lisa Thompson into our school - we weren't disappointed. We were treated to amusing (very funny) stories from Lisa's formative years and given some insight into how she comes up with her story ideas. We all came away inspired to imagine more, read more and write more. Thank you Lisa for making it a great event and thank you Chorleywood Bookshop for helping organise it.
UPDATE 5th Feb - 6Newton had thought of a lot of good questions that we didn't get the time to ask so we emailed Lisa who very kindly responded.
Thank you for your email. I had a lovely time at Prestwood Junior School and I'm so pleased my visit has inspired you all to do some creative writing. That's brilliant! I'm very happy to answer your questions! Here you are:-
Which character has the most similar personality to you?
I think there is a bit of me in all of my main characters! There isn't really any one character that I'm more like.
Which is your favourite character out of all the characters in your books?
I would say Melody Bird from The Goldfish Boy. I love her!
If you chose one of your books to rewrite which book would it be? What would you change?
Ooh, that's an interesting question. I don't think I could bear to rewrite any of them! I went over and over them all so many times. I guess if I had to choose it would probably be The Goldfish Boy and I would put more of Melody Bird in the story.
Where do you get the ideas for your titles from?
They always come to me about half way through writing the book. I'm writing a book at the moment and I have no idea what the title might be yet!
Are any of your books linked? If so, which ones?
None of the books are linked, but I might return to one of my books and write a 'spin off' featuring one of the original characters. I can't say which one but I'm hoping it will be published one day!
Thank you for your questions and keep writing and reading!
Lisa
