The RSPB's Big Schools' Birdwatch is a citizen science project designed for schools across the UK as part of the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch.
The children survey the birds they see in their school grounds and send the results to the RSPB. Submission for results is open between 5th January - 22nd February but as most of us aren't in school at the moment I thought we could do this from our gardens or local parks when getting some exercise. You can then submit your findings by visiting https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/ between the 29th and 31st of January.
RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch is celebrating its 20th anniversary this academic year. The results schools submit to the RSPB are used by conservation scientists to help create a picture of how the birds are faring across the UK.
The results children send to the RSPB through Big Schools’ Birdwatch, are used in conjunction with the results sent by the public through the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch which has taken place for over 40 years.
