The summer is finally here and we can look forward to lots of exciting activities.
On Friday 8th June Year 4 will be attending the 'SING PERFORM, INSPIRE MUSIC WORKSHOP' at St John's School, Lacey Green.
We can all enjoy the Great Outdoors as part of our Science topic this term as we will be investigating habitats around the school.
The children are all really enjoying reading our class novel: The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick and it is inspiring their writing and drama this term.
In DT the children will be investigating different breads and making designer sandwiches for a summer picnic.
Each child in Year 4 was given two sunflower seeds to begin growing at home during the Easter holidays. You can grow your seeds in whatever you have available, for example an old yoghurt pot or disposable cup. Once your seedlings have grown to a few centimetres tall, choose your strongest one to bring into school. (You may keep the other one to continue growing at home.) The sunflowers will then be planted outside each Year 4 classroom and we will have some fun seeing whose grows the tallest, whilst also enriching our outside area.
This is an optional activity but we hope as many of you will join in as possible. We look forward to seeing them soon!
We have some really exciting things to look forward to in the Spring Term.
History - Romans
English - Historical stories and then newspaper reports.
Science - States of Matter - solids, liquids and gases and how they change.
PE - Swimming starts this term. Hockey with Get Active on Fridays.
Computing - Programming with Scratch
Maths - All topics - please learn your times tables!
As part of our school's new Mindfulness initiative, aimed at developing the children's Mental well-being and ability to concentrate; each child in Year 4 will be making a 'Mind in a jar' on Friday 15th September.
At some point before next Friday, please can they bring into school a clean jar or plastic bottle with a lid which has had its label removed. Please can you re-label the jar/bottle with your child's name.
If you have any difficulty with this, please let us know and we shall do our best to provide one for them.
