Happy 2018! We hope you made the most of your two weeks off and aren't feeling too over stuffed like a Christmas turkey! We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your generosity and kindness, we are very grateful for gifts which we received from you.
We have some really exciting things to look forward to this term, please find a list of some of the things we will be covering up until the Easter break.
Humanities - Ancient Egypt
D&T - Stable structures
Science - Animals including Humans
PHSCE - Growing and Changing
PE - Hockey (mouth guard recommended)
The beginning of the Spring Term also sees the introduction of our Topic homework. This will be issued on a Friday and is due in the following Wednesday at the latest. This means there is no overlap with Maths homework, which is sent home on a Wednesday. The children do have access to the library, computer room and homework club at lunchtimes if completing their task is proving tricky out of school. Homework will also be posted online each week.
The positive effect the transition time spent with the Year 3 children at the end of the Summer Term is evident, both in their eagerness to come in to school in the mornings and the confidence which they show as they move around the school site. However, we have had to regularly remind many of the children of safe behaviour during break and lunch times. For example, the importance of walking, rather than running on pathways and responding when the whistle is blown. We would appreciate your support in reinforcing the correct behaviour should conversations arise at home.
Year 3 Meet the Teacher will be on Friday 8th September at 9am. You will have the opportunity to meet the Year 3 teachers as well as finding out about the curriculum for the year ahead. Please note that this is not the time to discuss individual needs; you are asked to make an appointment with the class teacher if you feel you need to discuss anything specific to your child.
