Naming body parts
This activity introduces the children to the correct names for parts of the body, including the reproductive organs.
Naming and talking about body parts is something which can cause people to feel uncomfortable. However, it is important to use these words as early as possible for the following reasons:
The children were incredibly sensible talking about different words which are used for genitals. We talked about how the words used at home are perfectly acceptable at home, but that in school everybody should use the same words so that people can all understand one another.
The children then completed a worksheet where they had to decide whether body parts belonged to a male, female or both. The children were then given the opportunity to add in extra ideas to their list.
