We recently had a visit from a fantastic poet called Karl Nova. He let us all into a bit of a secret. First he asked who liked poetry, not many people put their hands up. Next he asked who liked RAP, loads of people put their hands up. Then he wowed up, RAP is actually an acronym and stands for Rhythm And Poetry, so if we like RAP, we must therefore like poetry!
He challenged us all to have a go at writing our own poetry. He explained it doesn’t have to rhyme and it doesn’t even really have to make sense. It can be about things which have happened to us and experiences we have had, it could be about things which we like and enjoy doing, or it could be about absolute complete and utter nonsense.
With Karl, we had a go at writing acrostic poems. Your poetry challenge is to see if you can write your own poem about anything you like!
