Science Homework – Design and Make a Musical Instrument
As part of our Science topic on Sound we would like you to make your own musical instrument out of materials you can find at home.
You have two weeks to make your instrument.
Bring your instrument to school by Wednesday 6th December. We will then be using it in Science as part of our creative assessment Science lesson. It is important that you can change the pitch of the sound that your instrument makes.
Here are some ideas you could use.
• shakers (plastic pots or bottles with rice, gravel or dried beans)
• scrapers (plastic bottles with ridges, dowel rods, sandpaper)
• drums (food containers, biscuit tins, material to stretch over the top of the containers)
• string instruments (food containers, cardboard boxes, elastic bands, string).
Be creative and have fun!
English Homework – Write a paragraph
Write a paragraph to explain what your musical instrument will be like. Try to start with a sentence to say what it will be, then add some more sentences to explain how you will make it.
